Where the Forest Breathes
An unhurried walk through woodland rhythm, where attention and presence emerge through movement
This walk invites a different kind of attention—one that emerges gradually through movement, rather than stillness.
Today’s walk takes us into Bertiz Natural Park, a protected forest long preserved as a place of refuge, observation and quiet. Here, walking is not about distance or destination, but about presence.
Presence here is not given, but found along the way—step by step, as the forest gradually reveals itself.
We follow gentle paths beneath a dense canopy of beech and oak, where light filters softly and the soundscape is composed almost entirely by leaves, birds and water. The pace is unhurried. There is no ascent to conquer, no effort to measure—only time to notice textures, scents and the subtle life of the forest.
After this slow immersion, the walk continues into Bertiz’s botanical garden. Carefully integrated into the landscape, it introduces a different rhythm and palette: unexpected species, layered histories, and a quiet dialogue between the local and the distant. A gentle contrast that sharpens perception rather than breaking it.
The experience naturally opens the appetite, and the day concludes with a relaxed meal at a nearby country restaurant, where simplicity and warmth echo the tone of the walk itself.
Some landscapes don’t ask to be crossed, only to be entered—and listened to. Nothing to reach here—only to move differently, and allow the forest to be revealed along the way.
Not all journeys begin at the surface.
