Memory, A Coast & A Museum
Where coastline, industry and modern identity meet
From Atlantic landscapes to contemporary vision
From coast to city, this journey follows the Basque coast as it extends westwards, tracing a landscape shaped as much by memory as by geography.
Along the way, brief stops introduce key moments of Basque history and identity, including Gernika, a place inseparable from 20th-century collective memory. The route continues through the coastal and estuarine landscapes of Urdaibai, with pauses in Mundaka and at Gaztelugatxe, where nature and history remain deeply intertwined.
The day concludes in Bilbao, with a visit, at your leisure, to the Guggenheim Museum, a contemporary landmark that marked a turning point in the city’s recent history. Here, architecture, art and urban transformation come together as an expression of renewal rooted in place rather than rupture.
From coast to city, this is a journey through layers of memory—where the past informs the present, and landscape gives meaning to form.
